Abstract

The term 'sustainable development' has been widely used after the Brundtland Commission report published in 1987. Education for sustainable development was promoted by the UNESCO and four key learning processes were identified covering collaboration and dialogue, engagement with the whole system, innovative curriculum, as well as active and participatory learning. Due to the complex nature of sustainability, it is very important to prepare students to respond to the interconnected social, economic and environmental aspects of sustainability.
